Govt decision on budget‚ poll 'conspiracy': oppns

KATHMANDU: Opposition parties, including Nepali Congress(NC) and CPN-UML, have expressed their stern dissatisfaction against the Cabinet decision on budget and Constituent Assembly(CA) polls.

Government’s decision
to forward the budget of Rs. 300.641 billion to the President and announcement of CA election for mid-April has been termed as ‘unilateral’ and ‘conspiracy against political consensus’ by oppositions parties.

Sidelining talks with oppositions parties, government is moving lopsidedly which would only escalate political uncertainty and constitutional complexity, stated top leaders of the opposition parties in an interaction programme organised at Rastriya Sabha Griha in the capital on Tuesday.

Only national unity government has the right to make decisions on budget and polls, said CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal while NC President Sushil Koiral deemed the government’s decision on budget and polls as a conspiracy.

Only yesterday President Dr Ram Baran Yadav had advised ruling parties and opposition parties to forge consensus on all the contentious issues at the earliest or else he would be obliged to step in for the formation of a national consensus government.

Opposition parties' interaction with business community dwelt on the current political deadlock in the wake of the demise of the Constituent Assembly(CA), along with the budget and the present economic situation.
